The St. John’s women’s basketball team notched their first win without their leading scorer Monique McLean last night at Carnesecca Arena, a 78-57 triumph over local rival Seton Hall.
“This is a great win for us. I think our confidence has been down for us,” head coach Kim Barnes-Arico said “You lose a player of Monique’s [McLean] caliber and for the kids to come out and play the way they did and get a win without her I think says a lot about them.” (more…)

Perhaps it was the absence of the Storm’s leading scorer Monique McLean, who was suspended by head coach Kim Barnes Arico indefinitely for violating the St. John’s student athlete code of conduct. Or maybe it was the added pressure on the shoulders of freshman Da’Shena Stevens who came off of a career night against the Connecticut Huskies. (more…)

A bittersweet feeling filled the press conference room after the St.John’s women’s basketball team suffered a tough loss to the nation’s No. 1 team, the Connecticut Huskies. The Huskies spent much of the second half fending off the Storm but kept their undefeated record intact defeating the Johnnies in Carnesecca, 77-64. (more…)

Paris Horne finished with 21 points and D.J. Kennedy netted 20, but both Johnnies were bested by Seton Hall’s Jeremy Hazell who dropped 31 on the Storm last night in the Pirates 91-81 win at the Prudential Center. (more…)
