The stage has been set for the Big East Championship women’s soccer title game: Notre Dame will take on Connecticut on Nov. 9.

The No. 1 seeded Irish advanced to the title game with a 2-0 win over Marquette in South Bend last night. The game-winner was scored in the 18th minute when junior Michele Weissenhofer finished off an assist from freshman Melissa Henderson.

The game on Nov. 9 will mark the fifth straight season that the Irish have advanced to the title match with their last Big East Championship coming in 2006.

The Irish, who are now perfect 20-0 on the season, defeated the Huskies by the score of 2-0 in their only game this year on Oct. 19.

They have also faced the Connecticut eight times in the history of the Big East Tournament and hold 7-1 advantage in those games.
